Local Pack
(3-Pack)Definition
The Local Pack is the cluster of three local business results that appears at the top of Google's search results page for queries with local intent, accompanied by a map and a "View all" link.
When a searcher types "best coffee near me" or "dentist in Mumbai," Google's SERP displays three businesses with their map pin, average rating, hours, and a direct call button before any organic results. This block is officially called the Local Pack, but most SEO practitioners call it the 3-pack.
For local businesses, ranking in the Local Pack is by far the highest-leverage SEO outcome — the three featured results capture an estimated 70% of clicks for local-intent queries, while businesses ranking 4-10 in the same search compete for a far smaller share.
Ranking in the Local Pack is influenced by three factors Google has publicly documented: relevance (how well the business matches the search), distance (proximity to the searcher), and prominence (how well-known and active the business is, of which review count and review response rate are major signals).
